A light sensitive liquid emulsion is coated directly onto the screen and allowed to dry in the dark room.

The positive artwork is placed between the screen and the ultra-violet light source thus blocking the light from the emulsion and enabling the stencil to be created.

After exposure the parts of the stencil blocked from the light are washed away with water, this creates a negative stencil from which a positive image may be printed.
