Autumn & Winter Screen Printing

Come and enjoy a day of screen printing. Learn this colourful technique and create your own original prints. You will learn how to make a photo-stencil by coating a screen with light sensitive photo-emulsion and exposing your design onto it using an exposure unit. You will also use a vacuum screen bed and learn registration techniques to enable you to hand pull a small edition of two coloured prints on paper.

Suitable for beginners and those looking to refresh their skills.

Please note you will need a black and white image or design suitable for screen printing.  Places are limited, please book early to avoid disappointment

Introduction to Reduction Lino Printing

Learn how to make a two or three colour reduction lino print onto paper.  This is where one piece of lino is used multiple times in one print, as the lino plate is recut after each colour  printed.  You will be working from an image or design of your own and we will also cover registration technique for lino printing.

Bookbinding with Recycled Materials Workshop

Learn how to reuse your packaging materials and old jeans to transform them into a hardcover notebook for scribbling in! You don’t necessarily need to have fancy paper or book cloth to make a book! We will go over the basic bookbinding techniques required for sewing your own hardcover book, beginners are welcome. All materials included.

There will be many tea and biscuit breaks in between.

Creative Printmaking Course  (Monday afternoons)

A series of 6 week courses introducing fine art printmaking processes.  Covers drypoint, monoprint, relief prints from lino, optionally also solar plate etching. No previous knowledge is required, but returners with some printmaking experience are also welcome, plus students familiar with other art forms or wishing to supplement their studies. Beginners will be introduced to methods via demonstration and previous examples.  Returners will be assisted to develop their own themes.  The tutor may also be working on his own prints.

Silk Screen & Textile Printing

The course will cover everything you need to get started. You will learn how to coat a screen with photosensitive emulsion, expose the screen on a UV light box, develop and wash out your image, and finally how to print your image onto paper or textile using water based inks.

Experimental Collograph and Drypoint combination printing

This exciting new course teaches you the basics of making both a Collograph plate and a dry-point plate so you can then combine the two to get exciting results.

Day One

Collograph plates are textured, rich and beautiful when inked up. The first day will be used to make a number of plates, seal them and leave them to dry overnight. 

Day two

Drypoint plates are primarily line drawings, can be made quickly and easily. The morning will be used to make a number of Drypoint plates. 

The afternoon will then be used to ink up the plates and print them in different combinations.

Participants should leave the course with a number of finished prints, the skills to carry on experimenting on their own and some good memories.
