Birmingham Printmakers is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee. We are an artist-led, membership based organisation providing printmaking facilities for our members. We provide access to our workshop at the Jubilee Centre in Birmingham City Centre so that people can make prints. Our facilities include a dark room and equipment for intaglio and relief printing, screen printing, lithography and letterpress printing.

We run printmaking courses for adults at our workshop and deliver bespoke courses off-site for private companies, schools, colleges, universities, community groups, art galleries and museums.

We have a long and distinguished track record of exhibiting regionally and nationally and are proud to contribute to the cultural life of our city.

Our printmaking equipment includes: a U.V. exposure unit size approx. 100 x 80cm, two hand operated screen printing beds for printing onto paper, a Berwick and Wilson press bed size approx. 120 x 60cm, a Tofko Norup etching & litho press bed size approx. 135 x 78 cm, an Albion press bed size approx. 40 x 55cm, a stone lithography press (currently not operational), a small 25 x 37cm pin press, a tiny portable printing press 40 x 23 cm and three Adana letter presses.

About us

Set up in 1982, Birmingham Printmakers has a large well-lit workshop in Digbeth. It is available to all artists, specialist and non-specialist printmakers. We have 54 members and a voluntary committee of twelve, which runs the general day to day business.

We have a dark room, an aquatint room and an open studio floor with equipment for intaglio and relief printing, screen printing, lithography, polyester plate litho, and solar plate etching. Much of the equipment is lottery funded. Visiting printmakers are always welcome.

We have regular workshops in all types of printmaking and take part in exhibitions throughout the country and abroad.
